Add sources, instructions, skills, and agents to a project

Updated September 14, 2026

Project context lets related conversations start from the same background. Use it for material that applies across the project, rather than attaching the same documents to every new chat.

Add Sources

Open the project's Sources area. Upload files or choose existing items from your Sources library. Selecting a folder includes the files inside it. Check the selection before adding a large folder so unrelated material does not become project context.

Removing a Source link from a project is different from deleting the underlying file. Use the action that matches your intention and check who else relies on the Source.

Add instructions and skills

Open Instructions and Skills. Describe the project's goals, conventions, and constraints. For example: “Use the current procurement policy. Compare suppliers using total annual cost. Clearly identify missing evidence.”

Attach relevant skills for repeatable procedures. Project instructions apply to the default agent and attached agents working in the project; skills provide additional guidance when relevant to the request.

Attach agents and apps

Choose the agents and apps the project should use. Their own access requirements still apply. Adding an app or agent to a project does not connect every member's external accounts.

Test the setup with a new project conversation and ask Aleria which sources it used. If the result uses outdated material, check the project links and replace or update the underlying Source.
