Use sources in conversations and projects

Updated September 14, 2026

Give Aleria the relevant Source when you want an answer grounded in your own information. For recurring work, link the Source to a project so it is part of that project's context.

Use a Source in a chat

  1. Open the conversation where you want to work.
  2. Select the file from Sources using the attachment picker.
  3. State the question and any limits on the analysis.
  4. Ask for references to the sections, rows, or passages that support the answer.

For example: “Use this policy to check the attached proposal. Cite the requirement for each issue you find.”

Use project Sources

Add shared reference material through the project's Sources area. Keep project instructions focused on how to use the material, such as which policy takes precedence when two documents disagree.

When an answer appears to use the wrong file, name the intended version and inspect the project's linked Sources. Ask Aleria to identify the material it actually used instead of assuming all available files were read.

Understand the boundary

A Source file and a connected external account are different. Files you upload provide document context. A connector lets Aleria retrieve information or perform supported actions in the external service, subject to account permissions.
